We - Hempalaya - purchased this product from one of our Fairtrade partners who runs a family owned business in Nepal - the Birth Place of Buddha. Everything the artisans create is exclusively handmade, unique, eco-friendly and most of all, honest.

They always believed in Fairtrade business practices hence they not only create better job opportunities and a better promotion of products but they also aspire to elevate the living standards of our local Nepalese artisans and help their kids to go to school for a better future.

💚 Artisans and producers first 💚

Their mission is to support and promote Nepalese, Tibetan and Newar arts and crafts throughout the world by offering eco-friendly products made by using the ancient craftsmanship of Nepal. They do a thorough study of manpower, working conditions, daily wages, raw ingredients and the final products, assuring that the products are ethically sourced, Eco-friendly, fair traded, supportive of cultures and artisans. Above all they want to ensure that the funds directly reach the artisans by cutting out middlemen which helps artisans get the best prices for their products and skills.

They also coach their artisans regarding fair trade practices so they can demand a fair payment, when working with other buyers. Gender equality has been a backbone of their trading practice. Equal pay is another important factor.

They have a strong belief that if the producers and their communities are strengthened with visionary plans and strong financial support, they will, in turn, work for the enhancement of oneself and also the whole community. Once the whole community has maintained in a good standard, the village becomes prosperous. If a village is prosperous, a state becomes prosperous. If a state becomes prosperous, the whole country rejoices the fruit.

They also share 10% of the profits with their suppliers/producers to improve their social, economic and environmental development alongside with funding their kids’ education.

The raw materials that are used in varieties of our products have to meet our high standards. They should be eco-friendly, sustainable and beneficial to the locals or local communities, should be easy to work with, healthy, non-toxic and most importantly of high quality.

As the products are handmade, sizes & colors may vary slightly.

Please wash the woolen hand warmers using only shampoo and warm water to make them smooth, soft and to avoid scratchiness.

Thus, with every purchase you make, you are contributing to the promotion and encouragement of these women and artists to explore their passion and skills.
